Summary 
     After my research journey, I discovered a new lens on my new knowledge of Japanese manga. I have included the first volume of The Promised Neverland as my primary sources, which I believe showcases the very terror in which I would like to analyze, plus the trailer to witness the visual summary. I have two tales, Hansel and Gretel by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm and Bluebeard by Charles Perrault, that I will be analyzing that this manga. I believe both themes compliment this manga with trust from Bluebeard and family violence from Hansel and Gretel. In which I can use multiple examples from the manga to present the inspiration from both tales. The scholarly sources I have chosen gave me an insight into the origins of Japanese manga and the integration of German literary culture. This is discussed a bit in The Routledge Companion to Media and Fairy-Tale Cultures, which focuses on the emerging influence from Grimm tales that influenced protest literature and art to psychosexual issues. The Manga Boom: The Recent Fairy-Tale Transculturation Between Germany and East Asia goes into more depth about the "Grimm Boom" and the folkloristic approach to translating these Grimm tales. Manga: An Anthology of Global and Cultural Perspectives gave an insight into horror and the supernatural within manga at which I would like to talk about in contrast to analyzing the primary sources. Grimms' Tales around the Globe: The Dynamics of Their International Reception has an excellent section on the reinterpretation of Hansel and Gretel through two writers, Philip Petit and Mizuno Junko, that transforms the original project from two different styles and ideology through comics and manga. I believe the scholarly sources gave me a background understanding and a blueprint of how I will plan my paper using history to help build on my points.
  
    The non-scholarly sources that I have picked help to analyze my main primary source, the manga. The first YouTube video gives a great explanation of the unadorned intensity of each scene of this manga to animation, which emphasizes the real horror. The “Flowers of the Promised Neverland” is something significant I want to discuss the horror aspects of my project, which talks about how something so beautiful, which is the flower, can be so deadly. “The Promised Neverland: A Dialectical Analysis of the Antagonist” gives me some good knowledge of the manga's antagonist that helps emphasize my points on how trust is presented and the current nature of this woman they call “mother.” Finally, “The Promised Neverland is a Great Work of Suspenseful Horror” is a substantial review of the manga being classified as a horror manga going over examining a few chapters. Overall, I need more information portraying to Bluebeard, which I lack the knowledge for especially if want to convey some points that is relating to my topic. Also, more elements of horror manga and how it's shown instead of the typical examples so it can compliment the supporting arguments on why it would be classified as horror.
