Modeling is the process of defining a drawing. As its name implies, modeling is the activity of creating a model of a drawing. Models can be of any size and format, and they have several features such as drawing order, dimension controls, clip settings, and editing capabilities.
Modeling can be divided into two processes: model space and layout.
Model space is the main space of the drawing, used for creating the objects. Every object in a drawing resides in a coordinate system within a model space. Model spaces can be stacked or have overlapping areas, each with a different coordinate system.
Layout is used to draw an object within its model space. In addition to creating an object within the model space, layout also helps to ensure that the object is placed and positioned in the correct location within the drawing. The new version of AutoCAD supports AutoLayout, which helps to maintain the orientation of an object or a group of objects relative to a model space when multiple overlapping model spaces are used.
Layout view can also be used to draw on a blank model space. The blank model space can be aligned with the current model space. You can set the orientation and alignment in different locations of the blank space.
