The earliest versions of AutoCAD were sold for the Apple II personal computer, Apple II clone, IBM PC compatible, and C64 computers. In 1998, Autodesk launched AutoCAD Map 3D for the Macintosh. This was the first version of AutoCAD that was designed to work with desktop mapping applications. Since then, AutoCAD Map 3D has been designed to work with a variety of desktop mapping applications.
On September 24, 2000, Autodesk launched AutoCAD Architecture for Windows. AutoCAD Architecture was a version of AutoCAD that was specifically designed to work with building and construction professionals.

The animation window can be accessed using either the 3D CAD (Animation) menu or the animation toolbar.
