You can also install Number Lines by Style on your Mac, if you are using a Mac and the Script Menu is blocked:
Press and hold ⌘-CMD-G and go to System Preferences / Accessibility / Script Menu.
Open the Preferences window.
Make sure “Script Menu” is unchecked.
Press OK and Restart InDesign.

@scoedro, I would check that option that you had selected at the beginning of your document. Sometimes it can become disabled.

Number Lines By Style Download
Number Lines by Style can number styles from a specified style. It can be used as a custom script for inline IDL (Adobe InDesign Language) to add line numbers.
Number Lines by Style will automatically number the lines in the InDesign document. You do not need to do it manually. 
Number Lines by Style will not delete an InDesign document unless you pass the −f option in the InDesign commandline.
Added date July 26, 2004: There has been an update to the script and the file numbering will now include double spacing, ie: "Line 5.2.3"
This is a nice little script if you are looking for a way to number your InDesign lines.

It is easy to use. 
Double click to open the script.
Add the script to the Scripts panel.
Choose the style.
Click on OK.
