In this video, the various types of biodiversity are explained. Biodiversity is a broad term which can apply to individual genes, species, or an ecosystem as a whole. Knowing the different types of biodiversity will allow students to navigate ecological relationships on a large and small scale. Additionally, this video will broaden students perspectives in regard to how one gene can influence an entire species and in turn, influence an entire ecosystem. 
Student Activity: Students will watch the video individually and make a note chart which distinguishes the different types of biodiversity. After completing the video, student will be provided with data from two different biomes which will include the number of species and population size. Students will use Simpson’s diversity index to calculate which biome is more diverse.
