Since JavaScript Browser is only available via the Windows Store, the rendering engine relies on a combination of HTML5 and CSS3 Web APIs, which is what is typically referred to as EdgeHTML.
The open-source project is a proof-of-concept that demonstrates the potential of the upcoming Microsoft Edge WebView engine and in particular, its integration with the HTML5/CSS3 Web APIs.
By relying on technologies to handle Web Storage, Web Workers, native messaging, indexeddb and others, the browser allows the developer to customize and render web pages without having to resort to client-side technologies such as WebGL.
By using the pre-baked XAML (XAML is the user interface and visual design paradigm for desktop, mobile, tablet and Xbox One) and associated controls of EdgeHTML (available via the Windows Runtime), JavaScript Browser can demonstrate the potential of the new Windows 10 web development model.
Among the available controls, one can find buttons, menus, paddings, text fields, check boxes, listboxes, listviews, grids, sliders, radios and more. Some controls have different visual styles, while others take advantage of adaptive design for greater user-experience and fit-to-pixel conformity.
Windows Runtime data model and interoperability 
Using JavaScript Browser as a WebView-powered, HTML5/CSS3-based browser is not enough to consider it a Windows 10-based web browser. The project is a proof-of-concept that also shows the potential of the Windows Runtime platform. As the name suggests, the runtime model is pretty much the same as the C++/WinRT API that was shown in earlier posts.
