World Zoonoses Day 2021

World Zoonoses Day is observed every year on 6th July to commemorate the work of French biologist Louis Pasteur .On this day in 1885 Louise Pasteur successfully administered the first vaccine against rabies. Zoonoses are disease which can be transmitted from animals to humans. In case of vice versa, it is called reverse Zoonosis or Anthroponosis. The day observed to spread awareness of the risks of Zoonotic diseases like virus, Avian Influenza, and Ebola. The day emphasizes on microbes that pose a threat to human and animal health. This year’s theme is: “Let’s Break the Chain of Zoonotic Transmission.”
