Meaning
Reflection is when you meet a difficult or challenging situation, take a moment to choose the important parts of the events or thoughts you have experienced, you can review them and accept them. This means that we learn from past experiences. When we honestly look back, these experiences give us clarity to think about, maybe it will go on, or maybe you need change your approach.
Challenges and overcoming
In this research project, there have two aspects are my biggest challenges. First of all, at the beginning of the project, I always struggled with the topic selection. It is either too broad or not enough to research, so that the whole project stalled in its start stages. When I browse more and more relevant research, check their key words of topic, gradually, I find how to pose a question.
The second, initially, I didn’t know to find some useful resources, typing keywords into the search bar always fails to find the resource I want. Until I hear the teacher talk about the characteristics of reliable and useful resources, I just realise which one type of article is a journal, what information can we capture it from the home page. Finally, with the help of reliable academic research sites like Google Scholar, I no longer miss out on useful resources.
Successes
In terms of reading and reviewing literature, through the Cornell note-taking method and some reading methods recommended by the teacher, I was able to quickly comb the general structure of the article and clarify its central idea. In the process of summarizing and paraphrasing the article, I also had good logical coherence.
Skills acquired
During the completion of the whole project, in addition to the skills of reading and taking notes, what I learned the most is how to quote references, understood there are many different formats for citation of references. In the academic article, it need to quote the references in accordance with the required format, especially pay attention to many small details, such as the name of the author. At the same time, I gained the skill of make slide, it changed a lot from my usual habit of making slides with lots of text, I am grateful could obtain different information from these practices.
