Time for my post where I detail a bunch of my campus involvements! Up first is WM Residence Life; I was an RA last year for the wonderful Griffin E (miss y’all) and it was a blast. I had a wonderful staff and I learned so much from the experience— highly recommend. Shoutout to all the RAs moving in to campus right now!! Second is the Linguistics Labs, formerly known as CELL ( @wm_linguistics ). We meet every week to share research, chat about what we’re working on, and generally have a good time. We also team up with the Linguistics Club for board game nights and knitting sessions! We’re continuing with Zoom meetings through the Fall and are open to all students! Third, and possibly most importantly, is the Symphony Orchestra ( @wm.symphonyorchestra ). On hiatus for the Fall due to space concerns, we have so much fun travelling and (as you can see) doing our annual halloween concert. We’ll still be doing social stuff to stay in contact this semester, though, so please reach out if you’re thinking of joining!! Having the opportunity to do all of these things is a definite privilege. COVID-19 has created and exacerbated equity issues for students across the country, barring many from these very opportunities. Consider donating your time or money to @studentsforblacklives or @nationalequityproject , and check out those organizations as well to see how racial justice is necessary in ensuring that we all have opportunities to grow and find joy.
