Learning about Light with Young Children

Session Summary This session explores the science of light—how we experience it and how we use it—and ways to explore light with their young learners and document their experiences and understandings. Direct and reflected light are part of the natural world and children’s experiences. After identifying children’s beginning understandings of light, we can use additional experiences with a variety of light sources and designed systems for exploring light to support children’s developing understanding of the science of light.
