Amending an element of an array in Python
I have a np.array created using this line:
h_list = np.genfromtxt("h.txt", delimiter=",")
Where h.txt contains an array with the form:
arr[0] = [3, 5, 2, 2, 4]
arr[1] = [0, 6, 2, 1, 4]
...
arr[n] = [7, 8, 6, 6, 6]
and I want to amend the first element of each array, in order to generate this:
arr[0] = [3, 5, 2, 2, 4]
arr[1] = [3, 5, 2, 1, 4]
...
arr[n] = [0, 6, 2, 0, 6]
The size of the original array is 15000 and I'm looking for a solution that will run in less than one second.

As mentioned, genfromtxt creates an ndarray so you need to be able to do a one-to-one mapping.
This means you will have to create your own map/dict.
h_list = np.genfromtxt("h.txt", delimiter=",")
mapping = {}
for i in range(len(h_list)):
    for j in range(len(h_list[i])):
        mapping[h_list[i][j] + 1] = h_list[i][j]
