However, you can change the settings or add filters to your existing photos. Photoshop Elements is bundled with Elements 15. For more information about how to use the features of this software, check out my Photoshop Elements tutorial.
Step 1: Open and Import Photos
Before you start using Photoshop Elements, you need to make sure that all the photos you need are on your computer. You also need to import them into Photoshop Elements using File > Import > From Files.
Step 2: Choose an Image Size
Choosing the best image size depends on the kind of photos you take. Most digital cameras take photos in either JPG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) format or TIFF (Tagged Image File Format) format. JPG format is best used for photos with a maximum file size of 200 megabytes. TIFF format is best used for photos that contain more than 200 megabytes of digital information.
After you have imported the photos, open the photo you want to edit and set the Image Size to Size: Original. Figure 1 is an example of an image that I use as my image size.

Step 3: Adjust the Image to Fit the Grid
Next, open the ruler tool (see the tool bar at the top of the workspace). Put the ruler in the upper-right corner of the image and hold down the Alt key. This makes the ruler visible and enables you to drag it by clicking and dragging from one side of the image to the other. Now, drag the left and right edges of the ruler to make the image fit the grid.

Note: Before you start using the ruler, you need to make sure that the grid on the right side of the workspace is enabled. To open the ruler, click on the square in the top-right corner of the workspace until it becomes a round square. Click the little lock icon to the right of the square. When the grid is enabled, it appears in orange. Otherwise, it is grayed out.
By clicking on the image in the ruler, you can see the percentage of the image that the ruler is covering. If you change the proportions by dragging the ruler, then you can see the percentage of the image that is covered by the ruler when you move the ruler.
