Macon-Bibb to hire airport director, rename part of Anthony Road

Macon-Bibb County commissioners approved reinstating the airport director position that was eliminated after consolidation. Most recently, private contractor TBI Airport Management has managed the county's airports. Mayor Lester Miller said the TBI contract is set to expire but a director is needed whether the county renews with the company, or not. A proposal to rename a portion of Anthony Road for the late Ballard Hudson band director Robert Scott took up the majority of the debate during the Aug. 9 meeting. Some county commissioners initially favored dedicating just a portion of the road for Scott instead of renaming that section of the street which will require new addresses. All items approved will be on the consent agenda for the Aug. 16 meeting at City Hall. Here are highlights from the committee meeting.
