The company Roblox, was founded in 2004 by David Baszucki and Erik Cassel, who were technology partners in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Media Arts and Technology group. The MIT group had been building game engines that could be used in online games, and were trying to find ways to make these engines accessible and interesting to the general public. Following a successful crowdfunding campaign on Google's online platform, Indiegogo, Roblox was released on September 27, 2006.

Photo Courtesy - Getty Images(CHICAGO) -- Sarah McLachlan will perform a personal concert at the United Center in Chicago on June 26 to benefit the victims of the Haiti earthquake.
"i really want to do this to raise money for Haiti's earthquake," McLachlan told CBS Chicago. "I want to do this to try to help in the recovery. That's what this is about. We're going to start to build a foundation there."
The concert -- which is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. -- will also raise money for the earthquake survivors in the Philippines, Chile and elsewhere.
"This is just so important to me," McLachlan told CBS Chicago. "I have two little girls. I just want to be as there for them as possible. Just helping out in any way I can."
McLachlan is no stranger to charitable projects. She's also organized annual benefit concerts including 2005's concert in Toronto that raised $1 million to help fight HIV and AIDS.
