October 2019 in the European Ombudsman's office

In October, Ombudsman Emily O'Reilly handed over the 2018 Annual Report to the European Parliament's President, David Sassoli. Progress was made on strategic inquiries related to the transparency of EU decision-making, as well as on other inquiries of public interest. This month also marks the start of the race for the European Ombudsman's election by the European Parliament, to be held in December this year.
