Psych! The Science Behind the Attendee Experience

The science of psychology is a powerful tool and a key to understanding human behavior. As event professionals, how can understanding this tool improve the attendee experience and help exhibitors connect with attendees on a deeper level? Join CadmiumCD's Michael Doane on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 1 pm ET as we to explore techniques for getting attendees “in the zone,” why nature can play an important role in the attendee experience, and how the industry can extend beyond itself to address today’s most important issues in psychology. Questions: Q1 Flow state – intense, focused concentration in the present moment – is said to help people learn (Flow, 1990). What are some ways we can help attendees get in the zone? Q2 New research has confirmed that nature has a positive influence on the brain (The Nature Fix, 2017). How can we bring nature into our trade shows to tap into this powerful force? Q3 What about the inverse? How can we bring the trade show to nature and get attendees outside of the downtown convention center? Q4 How can we use the five senses (sight, sound, smell, taste and touch) to engage attendees in our education and sponsorship programs? Q5 Space and time are two more components that influence the mind. How can we use these to affect attendee experience? Q6 Color is another powerful force of psychology. How can we use color in the expo hall and beyond to influence attendee behavior and experience? Q7 Psychology is a bit of a double-edged sword. It can be used to provide better experiences, but also to manipulate attendees. How do we balance this fine line? Q8 Some of the biggest issues in psychology today deal with race, addiction, PTSD, suicide and abuse. How can we as an industry extend beyond conferences and trade shows to help address some of these bigger issues?
