History
AutoCAD was developed for AutoCAD LT and AutoCAD 2000 by Arthur Cohen and his small development team at Seeland, Ltd. In 1989, the product was given to Peter Seeland, who eventually founded the company in 1991.
In the late 1980s, in addition to AutoCAD, Seeland developed a competing product called Autodesk AutoCAD Architecture. AutoCAD Architecture was released on October 12, 1991, at the Fall ASCE Engineering Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. AutoCAD Architecture competed with Cadsoft's then new CAD product, CAD/CAM Architect. AutoCAD Architecture was originally released as a stand-alone product for windows, but was rebranded as AutoCAD 2000 a year later.
