It's always best to let me know as soon as possible if something is going on at home that may impact learning here at school.  I will respect your privacy and let you determine which details need to be shared with me - but it is really helpful for you to let me know when/if your student needs a little extra patience and care.
7th grade is a time for stepping into some independence as a student.  Please help your student by allowing them to compose emails written to teachers to ask questions, or ask them to go visit with a teacher about a late assignment.  We can still guide and support them, but let's help them practice taking these steps! Sometimes rehearsing these conversations at home can help alleviate some of the anxiety that accompanies this growth( :
