This summary is based on TAGS/ NodeXL extracts capturing data on 22,257 tweeters that used the #Covid19UK hashtag during January 2021, posting 48,746 tweets and receiving 76,656 retweets. Overall 611 (2.7%) tweeters received 80% of all retweets, while 15,783 (71%) tweeters received no retweets. A combination of TAGS and NodeXL data captured individual retweet data on 71,903 retweets (94% of those expected from aggregate data), from 45,567 retweeters. Overall there were 65,318 accounts that tweeted or retweeted: of these 19,751 (30%) just tweeted, 43,061 (66%) just retweeted and 2,506 (4%) tweeted and retweeted. 
For the start of a new year I have used a slightly different approach to produce the "top tweets" list this month. Once again I have listed the top 3 tweets (by retweets) for each day. To avoid including too many tweets from any individual tweeter I have capped the number of tweets per tweeter listed here at 3 tweets. The summary below lists 93 tweets from 80 tweeters. 
(For March to July 2020 summaries I didn't have a cap on number of tweets per tweeter, but it was clear that some tweeters were becoming rather dominant. For August to December 2020 summaries I had avoided including tweeters who had had 3 or more tweets in preceding months, in an attempt to capture the diversity of tweeters). 
Once again I must state that there are tweets in here that express inaccurate, offensive and/or exploitative views. Obviously, as a clinician with public health training, I strongly disagree with tweeters who oppose lockdown measures, spread mis/disinformation about vaccination and disseminate conspiracy theories. I have included these views for information, so that we can view the content, read other material posted by these tweeters, and start to understand their motivations and purpose. There is, of course, plenty of other very interesting material. Hopefully this 10th monthly summary of #Covid19UK acts provides a useful collective diary of views during the pandemic.
