If you live in a compact state (see list of compact states), you must have at least one of the following requirements to be considered your state of residence: a drivers license in that state or; an address from the state in which you hold a voter registration, or; The address in the state where you file federal income taxes. In Texas (and most compact states), we require some form of legal notice. You cannot assume that you have the compact privilege just because you have one or more of the above items. In Texas, you must list your state of residence on your Verification Application, Approval Application, Renewal Form, or separate statement of your primary state of residence.
