Women's roles in the Mongolian empire.
Also unlike many empires at this time women did hold an important part in the lives of their marriages with their husbands. While it was common for women to re-marry it was also ok for men to have many wives. And this was very good for women at the time because women were influential in their partner's decision-making. An example of this is when Leo de Hartog explains in his book " Genghis Khan Conqueror of the World" that " Women played an important role in Mongol social life. The tribal chiefs often sought the opinion and advice of their wives, a habit that was continued by the later rulers of the Mongol Empire.". Also, he explains later on that women in the empire did not play a submissive role, however, if they were abducted they would remarry to a new husband, which shows the ways things went down in the empire built by Genghis Khan.
