I enjoyed the article "Don't Teach Digital Citizenship - Embed It!" because that is definitely the best way to teach this topic.  Too often, as mentioned in the article, this topic is a stand alone topic and it is usually taught by a Library Media Specialist.  Digital Citizenship is something that is important to all content areas and should be taught in all content areas.  I understand that this is difficult for teachers because it "adds one more thing" but that is where I see my role as Coordinator of Instructional Technology helping out.  I, along with the Library Media Specialists at each school, are working on lessons to embed into our 3 different learning management systems.  Our goal is to create lessons or support for lessons that can be easily pulled into different grade levels for digital citizenship learning.  This way, teachers don't have to come up with the content alone and can tweak our lessons to more authentically embed these lessons into what they are already teaching.  Our big goal in our new three year tech plan is to find the best places for the key lessons per grade level and help teacher better connect these ideas to their own teaching.
