Exhibition ‘COLLAPSE’ by Joan Morey, Contemporary Art Centre of Barcelona - Fabra i Coats (20 September 2018–13 January 2019); Centre d’Art Tecla Sala (23 November 2018–13 January 2019), and former prison La Model Barcelona (10 January 2019); Casal Solleric, Palma de Mallorca (31 January–6 September 2020).
The project COLLAPSE encompassed three simultaneous chapters: ‘Desiring machine, Working machine’ surveyed ten projects from the last fifteen years of the artist’s work over two floors of the Contemporary Art Centre of Barcelona - Fabra i Coats. The second chapter, ‘COLLAPSE. Cos Social’, presented the “performance for camera” ‘SOCIAL BODY. Anatomy Lesson’ (2017) at the Centre d’Art Tecla Sala, L’Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona). The new site-specific performance ‘COLLAPSE. Schizophrenic Machine’ (former prison La Model, Barcelona, 10 January 2019) closed the trilogy and became Morey's first performance with no human actors. Its location was undisclosed until 113 guests were driven by shuttle buses to the former Panopticon-inspired prison. ‘COLLAPSE: Bachelor Machine’ at Casal Solleric (31 January–6 September 2020) was an adaptation of the first two chapters of the Barcelona presentation, and Morey's first retrospective in his native Mallorca. – Curated by Latitudes. – Share: #JoanMoreyColapso 🔗 http://www.lttds.org/projects/morey/ 🔗 https://bit.ly/2DRWtxy 📷 http://bit.ly/2QYhWeN
