Karl Polanyi and Substantivism

Collecting together the works of Karl Polanyi and recent articles that rediscover his ideas as relevant to todays troubled world. Karl Polanyi was an economist from the first half of the 20th century. Polanyi's ideas have gained renewed interest in recent years following the 2008 crash, Brexit and Trump's election as US President. People has asked why these things should happen? Where did it all go wrong? Well, Keynes was not alone in rebelling against the nonsense of neo-classical economics - so was Polanyi, such as through his work The Great Transformation (1944). Polanyi is regarded as the creator of substantivism - the assertion that economics works for a society in a way that meets the circumstances that a society finds itself in, both cultural and environmental.
