Advocacy Painting: An exercise on VALUE

In this module, we talked about the elements of art such as line, color, shape, space, texture, form, and value. We chose an artwork expressing advocacy and recreated it using coffee painting. I chose an artwork representing women's empowerment. It is Anita Magsaysay-Ho's "Fruit Vendors" (1960). I have learned the significance of value in generating the illusion of light. I have done coffee painting before, but the struggle in creating it remains the same. It is fun to use coffee powder to create a range of values, and the finished painting is fulfilling, particularly because of the aromatic smell. We also earned how to give a critic by using Feldman's Method of Art Criticism.
