The Pocket Password Generator is a lightweight and very simple password manager that randomly generates secure passwords. It allows you to store your passwords in their memorized or encrypted format, which you can access at any time through the application, web browser or via QR codes.
Basically, you can use Pocket Password to memorize your passwords and then just have them available to you in a moment. You can even share the QR codes generated for other devices and access the passwords generated by the application using the app itself.
This is a utility that's easy to use and that can be accessed from any PC with mobile device connectivity, including tablets.
Setup and usability
The download version of the app comes with a user manual, the help files can be accessed within the application interface, and a link to the developer's website is available to provide additional information.
You can install Pocket Password on any Windows 8 or 8.1 or 10 PC. To quickly create new passwords, click the Encrypt option button, which will display a list of options in a small window.
Select the type of password (simple, complex, or custom); the password length; and whether the password should be encrypted (No) or memorized (Yes); then click Encrypt.
Access your passwords, one by one, by tapping the list item, or tap the QR code button, which will start the QR code generation process.
When the QR code is scanned or tapped, a list of the stored passwords is displayed, allowing you to access, copy, and erase the password from any other device.
You can also share the code with other devices or people by tapping the button and providing them the direct link to access your passwords.
Evaluation and conclusion
The application worked with no issues in our testing, and its interface isn't very colorful. The limited options available, especially with respect to the complexity of the generated passwords, aren't very appealing to those who want more features and customization options.
To the company's credit, however, the application comes with the capability to memorize and manage passwords through a QR code generated from the application, and it's already available and integrated with the Windows Store.
