Breaking stereotypes: Agriculture

Do the words “farmer” and “agriculture” cause you to think of a person sitting on a tractor, in a dusty field, under a blazing sun? If so, you are not alone. The stereotype of the lone farmer is a very strong one in most people. (A stereotype is a widely held and oversimplified idea of a particular type of person or thing. Stereotypes often paint an incomplete picture.) There are people who operate farm machinery, out in the sun. However, these people are a very small fraction of the people who work in agriculture! Each of the following people work in agriculture. Do you think you would be interested in a career in agriculture? Why/why not?
