The NBA Combine as an Effective Indicator of the NBA Combine

The NBA Draft Combine is run by the National Basketball Association (NBA) and is key in evaluating the athletic and anthropological abilities of prospective players who want to be drafted to the NBA. The study was aimed to find out whether the NBA Combine is an indicator of how well players get drafted in the NBA Combine. A total of 550 players who participated in the 2012-2020 NBA Draft Combine were included. The following data sets were retrieved from GitHub: NBA Combine Anthropology, Physical, and Draft History. The data was combined and organized and was uploaded to IBM SPSS Statistics program and analyzed. There was only a –0.142 correlation between height and overall pick and a 0.119 correlation between lane agility time and overall pick. No correlation between other physical tests. Thus, there is a very weak indicator between how well a player scores in the Combine tests and in the annual draft.
