My Calendar of choice is Google Calendar. This program is lightweight, built-in to my email and offers seamless integrations with the next two apps on this list.
Here are some tips I would like to give fully maximizing the features of Google Calendar:
Use Multiple Calendars to Separate Event Types. Google Calendar allows you to create separate calendar to suit your different events. You can assign calendars for your studies, work, meetings, and much more. This gives you also the option to only view which calendars you need to see at any given moment.
Utilize the different Calendar Views. The advantage of a digital calendar from a paper calendar is that you can toggle between different views (Day View, Week View, Month View, etc.) to properly schedule and pace yourself at any given duration. This also gives you the ability to look ahead a few days/weeks and prepare accordingly.
Color-Coding and Emoji-Coding. As you will create multiple calendars and slowly fill your calendar with events and reminders. It is a good practice to make use of color-coding systems or emoji-coding systems to better distinct one event/task from another. You don't need to color-code or emoji-code everything, it can only be the events you need to stand out from the rest of your calendar.
Keyboard Shortcuts. Navigating the calendar with just a mouse can be a bit of a hassle at time, press Shift + ? on your keybaord to see what are the different keyboard shortcuts you can use to navigate throughout your calendar.
