Commands are used to create, edit, and view your drawings. Before you can use a command, you must know its name. Commands are listed in the AutoCAD toolbox and in the command bar. You can choose whether or not to add a command to your toolbox by choosing View | Toolbox, then right-clicking anywhere in the toolbox, and selecting Add to Toolbox. You can remove a toolbox item by choosing View | Toolbox and then right-clicking the toolbox item and selecting Remove from Toolbox.
To access the command bar, choose View | Command Bar. From the command bar, you can perform the following tasks:

Layers may contain one or more objects, and any object on any layer may be in any position on the canvas.
