IIRF 2.1.0.16 Activation Key
IIRF handles the request, extracts the URL from the request, performs a rewrite, and sends the final URL back to the client. The rewrite logic is based upon IIS APPPATH/APPPATH as described below. This makes IIRF independent of the operating system and the application pool to which the request was made.
To enable IIRF to work, the operating system must support the directory traversal via the PATH_INFO and PATH_TRANSLATED environment variables, as IIRF uses them. This is usually the case on Windows. IIRF can also work with Unicode characters in the URL, although only Windows 7 supports Unicode URLs out of the box.
IIRF performs the rewrite for the following APPPATHs, and APPPATH overrides the passed-in URL:
IIS APPPATH/APPPATH
IIS APPPATH/APPPATH-TMP
The "current working directory" is not maintained by IIRF. If you use 'Directory Index' with URL Rewrite, this is not a problem as the [Directory] directive will always set the working directory for the server.

IIS Rewrite
The IIS Rewrite project is an ISAPI filter similar to IIRF which is developed by SolarWinds. IIRF is based on the IIS Isapi Rewrite feature.
Ways to use IIRF
While IIRF is easy to install, it does not offer a lot of configuration options, other than IIS APPPATH/APPPATH.
Use IIRF to pre-process the URL to protect against XSS attacks and other malicious activities. IIRF removes "unsafe" characters as well as CSS.
Use IIRF to set the domain name of the incoming URL even if the domain name was not specified in the incoming request.
IIS Rewrite features
There are more features of IIS Rewrite than IIRF, but it is not as easy to install.
In addition to IIRF, the IIS Rewrite project is included in the IIS 7.0/7.1/7.5/7.5.1/7.5.2 and IIS 8.0/8.1/8.5/8.5.1/8.5.2 (modules):

We can use this as a cheap solution to our problem.

Here, I'm going to assume that we're on foo.com. If we're not on foo.com, it will return the default page of us on foo.com. If foo.com returns foo/index.asp?flag=0 then it's going to redirect it to bar/index.asp?flag=0. and if foo.com returns foo/index.asp?flag=1 it's going to return bar/index.asp?flag=1. A quick rewrite gives us the desired result.
NOTE: one more thing of note. It doesn't return to the original URL, but it's not a problem, we're already at it's URL. In fact, we can use this to our advantage and actually redirect the browser to a sub-page on the root of the domain. Here's a simple IIRF Product Key that does exactly that.
