During its Committee of the Whole meeting Tuesday, the Macon-Bibb County Commission allocated about $2.4 million in grant funding to address issues of homelessness and create more affordable housing. The Economic and Community Development Director Wanzina Jackson explained how Emergency Solutions Grants and Community Development Block Grants to address poverty are being distributed after a lengthy application process to identify areas of need. Actions taken by the Committee will be ratified during the next regular session of the Macon-Bibb County Commission, which is slated for Nov. 21.
