FlipGrid Non-Fiction 90 Sec. Book Promo for English 9 ADV
Students were asked to script and practice non-fiction book promos to make sure they could say everything in 90 seconds. They were to show the book cover with the author's name at the beginning of the video, pull us in with an attention-grabbing beginning, cover the basics of the book's content enough to intrigue viewers, explain who might especially like the book and who might not find it a worthwhile read, give it a star rating (1-5 with 5 being highest) and then close with a final sentence to promote it. To do all of that, students needed to plan, be concise in their thoughts, use their time well, and maybe talk a bit fast. Students viewed one another's and the FlipGrid posted below was voted Academy Award-worthy.
