Any internship you participate in as an F-1 visa holder must be approved by the International Student and Scholar Services Office and formally noted as Curricular Practical Training (CPT) on your Form I-20 before you can begin participating in your training experience in the U.S. Note that it takes the ISSS Office 5-7 days to review a training experience for Curricular Practical Training.
IMPORTANT: Please note that any unauthorized work will result in the immediate termination of your Form I-20 as well as long-term negative consequences on your ability to be considered for future immigration benefits. 
*CPT is for international students who would like to engage in internships in the U.S. Students who seek to engage in internships in different countries other than the U.S. do not need to apply for CPT and it is the student's responsibility to check out employment-based visa requirements.
