AutoCAD has a centralized development environment known as the AutoCAD Forge, which contains most of the source code for AutoCAD and several other software products. The AutoCAD Forge includes the application's source code, product information (including manuals, documentation, and installation instructions), and scripts used to configure the application. Developers can set up a local development environment (with an MS Visual Studio or Eclipse-based IDE), run the Forge, and build their own modified source code for publishing to the Forge.  The Host/view for Microsoft Office, a visual tool for drawing in Microsoft Office file formats, such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint. The Host/view supports the native Microsoft Office programs and requires AutoCAD to be installed. It includes all native drawing features of AutoCAD.
 Access Control Reader (ACR) from Autodesk is a proprietary component for generating and interpreting the data stored in access control systems. The functions include automated recording of biometric data in an access control system. In addition, it can read a wide range of access control files, such as personnel, vehicle, and equipment access records.
 AcWiz is a tool that provides a visual interface to the commands in AutoCAD and is used to view the data in AutoCAD. It also helps in creating AutoCAD drawings by directly importing data from a source file and then saving it to a new drawing file.
 AcWizConnect is a tool that works with AcWiz. It allows companies to integrate the internet with AcWiz to automatically retrieve data from the company intranet to create drawings.
 ARES is a proprietary 3D modelling software from Autodesk that can be used to model and visualize structural engineering and architectural projects. 
 ARES Geo provides civil engineering models with complete topology, dynamic textures, contour lines, and other features.
 ARES Archi allows architects to design architectural projects for construction with ARES or a 3D modelling software.
 ARES Civil 3D provides architects and engineers with the most advanced structural analysis solutions for civil engineering projects.
