Lack of a desktop app
Gimped ability to register on Mac
No mac client
Favors Android over iOS
First impressions were excellent, super easy to set up, but I failed to register on my Mac. After a quick email to support I was given no response.
Signal for Desktop is a good app, but the lack of a desktop app that supports iOS has taken away from some of my belief in Signal.

Very very Good
My personal experience is good, but I am not happy with some of their decisions.
The biggest problem I am facing is when I tried to use the application for iOS on my Mac and was not allowed to register. I wrote an email to support but got no response.
This makes me hesitant on continuing my relationship with Signal.
Installation was very simple with the only task being a one-time registration process. After that, everything was up and running on my device. The app was quite intuitive and simple to use, no wonder I see it as a great cross-platform messaging app.

I got a temporary press invite to this app, and I've decided to try it for a few days, but I'm wondering how its UI compare to that of any other P2P.
I love the fact that it's FOSS, so I'd be really interested to see some hacking of it (something I don't see very often). I know it was on Slashdot, but did they give any details on what is going on? Is this whole thing a Chinese stunt?
I recently downloaded Signal for iOS and Android.
It's a fairly basic messaging application. The biggest thing that gives me pause for concern is that the app seems to ask for permissions on a case by case basis. For example, it asks for your calendar information to send and receive events. It also asks for the phone number it already has stored, when a user first goes to set up an account.
These are all valid things for a messaging app to ask for, but I have an issue with it collecting a list of permissions it asks for on a case
