This book was created in an attempt to help bridge the gap between the rich and poor by educating the up-and-coming generation of adults from a young age. *By no means am I a professional financial advisor, everything in this book are all things I learned and hope to share with you. I highly recommend you discuss your personal finances with a trusted financial advisor beforehand.In Puerto Rico, where I am from, there is a perspicuous line that separates the more fortunate from those impoverished. It was brought to my attention how only five minutes from my house, there exists a neighborhood that is made up of citizens who are predominantly below the poverty line. We do not realize this as teenagers because we are incredibly focused on our lives– tests, friends, school, etc. Nevertheless, outside of our “bubble,” there are different environments, qualities of life, and growing poverty. Upon this realization, I decided to interview a few friends who live there, and they were delighted to answer my questions.I asked the following questions: “What do you think makes the difference between someone who is financially stable and someone who is not? What led to you being in your financial situation? Is there anything that could have helped you?” Many relate their lack of knowledge of correctly spending their money, malfunctioning budgeting systems, and failed investments to the fact that they were never taught this at school nor by an adult. This is highly common, and many inexperienced teenagers are left to figure out everything, including finance, by themselves. It is paramount to take into consideration the unprecedented times that we are living in. The COVID-19 pandemic has left many homeless and jobless. In situations like these, it is of utmost importance to have financial literacy and stable savings to support one’s lifestyle. Everyone should have some level of financial literacy because it will help with everything in their life. My purpose with this book is to try to make a difference in the lives of those other teenagers that have not had the same opportunity as me– to learn from world-class professors about finance and have researched for endless hours by providing them with an easy-to-understand source of financial information on everything from how to open a bank account to the correct way to build a financially stable future that you can look forward to.
