Our vision is to create a core Sketchnote Squad within our school that will ultimately share our learning about visual note-taking and it’s many benefits through in-person sessions and media. Five students in grade 5 will be introduced to sketchnoting by following the activities in “How to Sketchnote: A Step-By-Step Manual for Teacher and Students” by Sylvia Duckworth. Once they have gained some proficiency and confidence, they will share their learning with others. It is our goal to have our squad grow over time. 
All learning outcomes and goals, including Learning Behaviours can be targeted with this project. Research regarding Sketchnoting and Visual -Notetaking  indicates that there are benefits to  memory retention, comprehension, motivation, self-regulation, and making connections. It is also inclusive, engaging, and brain friendly. (Duckworth, Margulies, Edutopia, Heinemann and others)
Our project will plant a seed  by introducing students w to an effective strategy for enhancing their learning now and throughout their lives. Sketchnoting has many benefits and these will build confidence in school and connection to school for the Squad. Through the Google Suite, they will be able to save their work and reflect on their growth as they progress over the years and  they may even form friendships that are sustained over time. The Squad will always be able to look back at their work using our project-specific hashtags or, once they are old enough for social media, they can follow sketchnoting influencers. Visual notetaking could possibly lead students to a particular career path such as teaching or graphic design.
