In this taster session it is intended to get you started in programming in a language called C# (pronounced C Sharp). While we will be looking at a few of the other languages, C# is the main one you will be learning on the Level 3 BTEC Courses at Leeds City College. 
Don't despair though if you have been studying another language, such as python, through school, you will find a lot of the skills you learned will still apply. For those of you who weren't lucky enough to start learning in secondary school, don't worry, we will be going through the basics and you will find you will soon catch up, because while programming maybe alien to a lot of us at the start, it's not actually that hard once you have your head around the concepts.
The skills you will gain from learning to program C#  transfer into other languages quite readily and should support you in what ever direction your future career will take. 
C# is the latest member of a group of languages known as the C family languages, and is growing in use in the software development industry, in commercial software and entertainment software (games). C# has a similar structure to C and Java, the two most commonly used programming languages.
