Spam Control Free
After The Initial Installation you can add spams by modifying the SpamCIDR-Files. The SpamCIDR-File tells the Mailfilter where it is allowed to check the E-Mails.
It is possible to define several SpamCIDR-Files. Then the E-Mails checked by a specific SpamCIDR-File is changed to the next SpamCIDR-File. Or if the eMail is checked by more than one SpamCIDR-File the SpamControl does not permit to send the E-Mail in the next hop. The SpamCIDR-File for the real content is defined in the "interactive" folder.
For The Inbox-Folder, one SpamCIDR-File is defined in the "interactive" and the Checked E-Mails are stored in the "interactive" Folder. If the E-Mail is not a Spam, then the E-Mails is delivered to the Inbox-Folder. If the E-Mail is a Spam, then it is deleted (clearpsoff) and the E-Mails is stored in the "interactive" Folder.
All Your SpamCIDR-Files are in the "interactive" Folder (where you define them). If you have an already existing "interactive" Folder (used for Spam Control) move all the files in the "interactive" Folder from the old subdirectory into the new one.
To define some sample SpamCIDR-Files, follow these instructions. To delete an existing SpamCIDR-File, or to move all E-Mails from a specific folder to the next SpamCIDR-File, follow the instructions.
In the "interactive" Folder (For Spam Control)
1. You should create a SpamCIDR-File.
To Create the SpamCIDR-File:
1. Go to the SpamControl-Folder in the SpamControl-Program/Setup-Folder
2. Click on the File-Gear in the SpamControl-Folder
3. Click on the "SpamCIDR..."-Button
4. Follow the instruction below:

How does Spam Control work?
When Spam Control processes a
mail coming from a particular mail server, it first verifies that the user
signed up for spam control. For example, the email was sent by someone who
did not sign up for spam control. It then looks at the message content,
and if it includes an attachment, checks for certain patterns, then it
looks at the contents of the attachment for certain patterns. Spam Control
does this by using a hash created from the headers of the email message
and the body, and a hash created from the attachment name and content.
The hash of the email message and attachment is compared to the hash in the
Spam Control records. If they are the same, the email is passed on to the
server for processing. If the hash does not match, the email is treated
as spam, and is either discarded or sent to a quarantine folder.
If Spam Control cannot find a record for the same hash, it then checks
the message's headers to verify that the email is from the same server as
the last email processed.
Spam Control looks at the Source IP address in
the header. If this is different from the last IP address or server
checked, Spam Control marks the email as spam. If the hash does not match,
the email is treated as spam, and is either discarded or sent to a quarantine
folder.
Spam Control performs the same checks on the mail server for all
outgoing e-mail. All outgoing mail that is marked as spam is discarded by
Spam Control. This can easily be used to place all incoming emails
to a quarantine folder, or to move them to another server.
How do I add a Spam Control rule?
To add a Spam Control rule, you need to log into
the Spam Control service. There are two ways to do this:
Windows Authentication
If you are already logged in to the computer running Spam Control,
start the Spam Control client. Open the Spam Control client, and then select Tools.
Then, click on the Spam Control
icon (see the link). You will be asked to enter your
Spam Control password.
If your Spam Control password is a password for a Microsoft
account, you have to enter your Microsoft account password to log in to the
Spam Control client.
