Errors in  learning followed by corrective feedback is beneficial to learning. The beneficial effects are particularly noticeable when individuals strongly believe that their error is correct: Errors committed with high confidence are corrected more readily than low-confidence errors. Corrective feedback, including metacognitive analysis of the reasoning leading up to the mistake, is crucial. Apart from the direct benefit to learners, teachers obtain valuable information from errors, and error tolerance encourages students' active, exploratory, generative engagement and production.
When we give feedforward, instead of rating and judging a person’s performance as in the past, we focus on their development in the future. There are, six specific characteristics of feedforward that make it very effective. They are referred to by the acronym REPAIR (regenerates, expands, particular, authentic, impact, refines). It regenerates talent because  formative feedback helps the learner to identify their skills and they can build on them and teach others. It expands possibilities. It is particular, It is authentic: it describes a problem and its impact and prompts a learner into action for a solution. It has an impact and it refines group dynamics.
