How To Fix Sim Offline Error On Nokia X2
I couldn’t tell if this was an issue with my unit, but I have a feeling it might have been just a firmware issue that Nokia is trying to fix.
I came across a post on the Nokia community forum that gives a solution to the SIM OFFLINE problem. The solution is to stop the X2 from sleeping. You must stop the X2 from sleeping so the SIM is active and will work with the phone.
Stop the phone from sleeping
To make the phone stop sleeping, I went to Settings → Display → Vibration and turned off the “Enable Sound Effects” checkbox. When I did this, the SIM tray appeared in the top bar.

Although I could not activate a SIM in the tray, I used the SIM in my phone. After this, I also got the SIM tray app icon, and the SIM was recognized in my phone.
I’ve tested this and it worked for me. I’m glad that Nokia finally made the SIM tray more visible, and hopefully Nokia makes this work without any problems in future firmware updates.
I have been using the Nokia Lumia 535 (PureView) for a few months now. A nice phone, nice camera and it’s been really stable too.
I recently bought a new Android phone – a Samsung Galaxy S3 (GT-I9300). It’s really a great phone. It’s fast, fast, fast. Nokia has really good phones for a while now and I really like the pure power of a Nokia phone.
However, the one thing that has really disappointed me is that I can’t make phone calls with the S3. I don’t understand why. It’s just a different technology, and it shouldn’t be.
Today, I did a small comparison test with the Nokia Lumia 535 and the Samsung Galaxy S3 and found out that the Samsung Galaxy S3 won hands down on the call quality (due to lack of mic). I didn’t actually compare with the S3 while calling, but with the Internet I’ve found that the call quality of the Lumia 535 is pretty good.
