AutoCAD is the largest success of its software developer Autodesk. The software was first released as a desktop version on a personal computer in 1982 by the company Computer Associates. In 1998, AutoCAD LT was developed to ease the installation and to cut costs for users. A year later, Autodesk introduced AutoCAD 2000 as a plug-in for AutoCAD LT, with a simplified user interface.
