What is the software used to create roads and buildings?
While AutoCAD can produce individual pieces of floor plan, usually the plan is a layout of the entire building. The drawings are produced by a CAD application such as AutoCAD, AutoCAD LT, Architect, Master Suite, Architectural Desktop, or Architectural Desktop Plus. In AutoCAD, the tools for making a plan are Sketch, Section, Draft, Section-Dec, Elevation, 3D Architectural, and 2D Architectural.

The Drawing Components are the first components to be developed in a drawing, and they define the drawing space. The remaining components are developed after the space has been defined.
There are two basic methods for creating a drawing:
You can start with a blank file. In this method, you use a drawing component to create the drawing space. Once the space is defined, you can create the remaining drawing components.
You can create a drawing based on a source file. In this method, you use a source file and a drawing component to create the drawing space. When you are done creating the space, you can create the remaining components.
Some components can be used to create both kinds of drawings. For example, the section, orthographic, and 3D architectural components can be used to create both blank-file drawings and drawings based on source files.
How does AutoCAD connect to your network?
AutoCAD creates and saves files in a proprietary format that only it and other Autodesk products can open. In order to view the contents of a drawing, you need to download and install the AutoCAD R13, R14, or R15 plug-in, which is available for free from the Autodesk website.
