2) All the techniques described in this article can be used in Microsoft Windows and AutoCAD LT. AutoCAD LT is a free, no-cost, personal use version of AutoCAD. The only thing you cannot do with AutoCAD LT is to create site-specific information for client-specific work. You must use AutoCAD.
Understanding Drafting Dimensions
You may have used drafting dimensions in the past, but AutoCAD makes it easier. Unlike some earlier drafting software, which had its own special symbols for drafting dimensions, in AutoCAD you simply use the notation, or text, "m" or "ft."
Drafting dimensions of an AutoCAD drawing are marked in blue, and reference objects are colored red. When you select a dimension, it changes color to blue.
There are three ways to enter dimensions:
1) Click a key.
2) Type the value of the dimension.
3) Select the dimension and use the keyboard to enter the values.
