Topic 2: Strategic Issues in Production, Operations & Knowledge Management
In this topic, we had learned on the customer wants and needs, the competitive priorities, the formulation and planning of business strategies and how information system helps to achieve competitive advantage.
It is good to know and realised the importance of Order Winner. Regardless if either be involved in manufacturing, production, marketing or even as an online seller, we have to find our own "order winner" which could attracts the customers to make the business with you instead of other sellers.
Overall, to me, this topic is less useful. Perhaps because I am still not to the level of needing to look at the "strategies", but I loved on the understanding on customers' and I find it the most important of all, since customers are the most important element in a business, without customers, there is no business.
To understand the customers' needs and wants, it is important to understand 2 main elements - Order Qualifier (basic customer expectations) & Order Winners (special features that seal the deal).
Order Qualifier 
includes the Satisfiers and Dissatisfiers. 
Dissatisfiers are the expected requirements in the product or servicer. Eg. If the Mercedes car have no engine or wheels provided, customers will be really dissatisfied. 
Satisfiers are the requirements that customers wants. Eg. Staying on a hotel for vacation, customers will be satisfied if the room provided is clean and nice as they expected.
Order Winners 
includes Exciters or Delighters. 
They are commonly the new or innovative features that customers never expected, the 'wow factors'. Eg. Buying a smartphone from an outlet, but you never expected that they would be giving powerbank, phone cases and screen protectors as free gifts, and these free gifts make you seal the business deal with the outlet rather than others.
