The first version of AutoCAD was able to display a simple line, rectangle, circle, arc, or triangle and provided no drawing capability or editing features. It was quickly superseded by the first version of AutoCAD LT (AutoCAD basic) which, in 1984, included two-dimensional drawing tools and allowed the insertion of text and dimension lines. AutoCAD LT was designed as a CAD-type program for use by architectural, civil engineering and land surveying professionals.

Overview
The AutoCAD architecture was based on an object-oriented design. Autodesk's first major CAD program was released in the summer of 1981. In the Spring of 1982, three students at the University of Utah, Greg Shortridge, David Simons, and Eric Bjornstad, worked on creating a computer application for architectural design, which they dubbed CADACE. CADACE (Architectural Computer Aided Design Environment) used a text-based command language to design objects, and eventually became AutoCAD in 1984.
With the release of AutoCAD in 1984, Autodesk realized that a visual interface was necessary to compete with other industry-standard CAD programs. In the early 1990s, Autodesk introduced two competing applications - AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT. AutoCAD LT replaced the old version of AutoCAD and introduced a 3D modeler to AutoCAD.

Here in Lilongwe, a city with a population of around 500,000, thousands of new infections are diagnosed each year. In 2009 alone, a staggering 116,000 people were infected. If this continues, there could be more than four million people infected by 2015.
The statistics speak for themselves, but it is the story of their lives that tells a much more compelling story.
As the AIDS pandemic evolved, the public health system struggled to meet the need for services and to cope with the increasing number of patients. Life for people with HIV was not easy, and people with the virus needed more support. HIV-positive people were stigmatised and discriminated against. As life expectancy increased for people living with HIV, they had children and needed to take precautions.
Almost immediately, there was a drive to decentralise the health services, and to put those services closer to the communities. Soon after, ART treatment was decentralised to outpatient clinics.
The ministry of health has been very supportive, and has provided training to people working in the health facilities, as well as an operational plan to support the implementation of decentralisation.
Decentralisation changed many things. It ensured that people living with HIV and their families had easier access to ART services. It made it possible to offer support to people living with HIV from prevention to care and treatment, and gave them a better chance of a better life.
