Phonics

As you may know, phonics involves matching the sounds of spoken English with individual letters or groups of letters. We use phonics teaching in schools to teach children to read and write. At Beechwood, we use the Ofsted recommended Read Write Inc (RWI) phonics programme. We know that effective phonics teaching and learning is essential for achieving high attainment in reading and writing. Additionally, children’s confidence with phonics is integral to the curriculum and is used in all subjects and therefore beneficial to every area of a child’s development. Please use the videos below, as directed by your class teacher, to help with your child's phonics learning at home. You will see all of the Set 3 videos for the week and then all of the Set 2 resources below:
