The software is actually free (not including in-app purchases) that actually helps you create games.It's absolutely not a program but a compiler that turns your description of your game into an executable program. Its ui is very easy to use. Its a lot of fun but if you learn programming well it will teach you alot. However, the ui takes a bit of your time.
The ui is for all introverts, and less business managers. It has a high learning curve, and due to this it took me 2 hours to learn how to play a game. Do not take this as a complaint, because after 2 hours i think im good enough. When you start, choose easy mode, and you would not notice it. However, if you want to gain access to the advanced mode, which will teach you how to make the game your own, try out some of the stuff in there. If you're not too scared of this, or do not want to waste time in the higher modes, choose easy mode.
Being able to create your own games is difficult and it is best to start with a game pack that already has a completed game. If you choose easy mode, i think you'll find the ui to be a lot more simple. However, when you know what you're doing, it is pretty easy to put something together in a few minutes.

The software was born with the intention to make simple games with ease. A friend of mine had requested me to make a small game with him. Such a task looked easy to me, as there was only one requirement for such a simple task - some form of game has to be made. So I made a quick design in which I just drew some shapes on the screen, made an arrow by dragging and dropping it, and a text saying “Hi” by dragging and dropping it. Such a program, as many other that we have been looking for, have a drag-and-drop interface, where users draw the sprites, the background, objects, and the room. Also, they have a scripting function, that users can use to create the other important aspects of the game, including time lines, fonts, and paths.
Game Maker Lite is divided in two components: a programming environment that is used to create the game, and an engine that is used to play and test the created games, as well as the scripts. The engine is used to play and test the created games, while the programming environment is where users can create the games.
