Introduction
AutoCAD is built on an architecture that processes object drawings in layers, creating a stack of 2D drawing objects.
Each layer represents a level in the drawing process: from the most general layers, such as the layer’s name and dimension units, to the most detailed layer.
All layers are combined to create a 3D model, and the layers can be moved, scaled, and rotated.
Each layer can contain blocks of drawings.
Within the layers are many objects. These objects are grouped into categories, which are used to perform tasks such as measuring, editing, and object selection.
Objects are formed by combining other objects.

Getting Started
AutoCAD is available for the Microsoft Windows operating system and other platforms, such as macOS and Unix.
You can download a trial copy of AutoCAD 2019 for the Windows operating system.
Autodesk recommends that you have a license for AutoCAD before you begin using the application. When you first install AutoCAD, you must register your license for the software. If you later need to obtain additional licenses or upgrade your license, see Your AutoCAD license.
You can also obtain a serial number for a previous version of AutoCAD from your registered dealer or Autodesk.
You can install AutoCAD on a single computer, or you can install it on multiple computers.
Autodesk recommends that you install AutoCAD on a server.
AutoCAD is included as part of the Autodesk Design Suite. The Design Suite is a bundle of AutoCAD products, including AutoCAD LT, AutoCAD Architecture, AutoCAD Plant 3D, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and AutoCAD Electrical. When you install AutoCAD in the Design Suite, you install it with the other applications in the suite.
Step 1: Launch AutoCAD
In your Windows operating system, select Autodesk® AutoCAD from the Start menu.
Select the version of Autodesk® AutoCAD you want to use.
In your Windows operating system, open a program window.
Select Autodesk® AutoCAD from the menu. The launch bar appears.

 Microsoft Office and Office 365 support macros (Automation Studio) that are embedded in the file format.
 OneNote (notebook application for Microsoft Windows) supports two methods of inserting an AutoCAD Free Download drawing into the drawing. Autodesk eDrawings
eDrawings is a DWG and DGN file format supported by Autodesk AutoCAD, AutoCAD LT, and AutoCAD Map 3D. eDrawings are created, edited, and saved in a similar fashion to the old Windows CE based eDraw format, and are often used as a database format for creating technical drawings and presentations.
Other formats
Two other file formats are used for storing AutoCAD objects.
 Serialized Objects
This is a proprietary binary format for storing AutoCAD objects in XML format.
Information can be saved in this format in different places, such as the registry, import/export files, and even an object catalog, so that the user can read the files directly. It uses different extensions, depending on what type of object it is (e.g., a block is ".bld," an arc is ".arc," a line is ".lin," and so on).
Serialized Objects is used for storing:
 Object Catalogs: Since Autodesk 2016.0, AutoCAD now stores object catalogs directly in Autodesk Exchange. In order to do this, a ".cat" file must be present in the AutoCAD folder. These objects are stored in a different format than the others.
